Ever felt like something was made for you? Like, the way it looks, smells, tastes, its elegance, smoothness and its beauty is something that would attributed to you?Inverroche as a brand was made for me.
I was asked once in a job interview, if I were to sell something in a commercial, what would it be? Without hesitating, I said "I would sell GIN!"..then I started mumbling.. "but I would sell the Inverroche specifically, It's a South African brand and they have a distillery in Cape Town, I would sell Inverroche gin!" I got so excited speaking about it, lol, in hindsight I wonder if thats why I didnt get the job?! 🤔.
Yes, Inverroche is my ultimate, favourite gin brand and once we moved level 2, it had to be the first alcoholic gin I buy for the collection. Founded by Lorna Scott, the story of Inverroche started "over a period of three years, where Lorna sat at her kitchen table with her son Rohan and, through trial and error, developed the range of Inverroche Gins that you can enjoy today." Inverroche has 3 beautiful variants you can choose from; Amber, Verdant and Classic. I have had all three and all three I love. The brand has recently came out with two limited editions that include Coco L'orange and Coco Carissa - a creative collection which has been infused with chocolate flavours merged with citrus and berries, respectively. I have no tried these yet, but a friend of mine (Shout out to LU!) has tried the Coco L'orange and really recommends it.
When it comes to Inverroche, there is a consistency of smoothness in all their bottles that I have never found in another brand. I almost want to say you can taste the care and love that was put into it. The Amber gin is infused with Fynbos, a rich and aromatic, amber coloured gin with fresh citrus, slight juniper, sweet toffee apples and delicate floral notes. The Classic? crispy and dry with upfront green, grassy juniper notes which blend seamlessly with a bouquet of soft flowers on the nose. The Inverroche Gin Verdant is floral and soft with a translucent golden-green hue. Delicate aromas reminiscent of elderflower and chamomile, lead to summer blooms, a touch of spice, subtle juniper, waxy lemon rind and alluring liquorice on the palate. The Verdant is probably the best floral gin that I have had. It doesnt taste like perfume😅 and the balance of the floral flavours is just right.

You guys know by now that a classic G&T is my go to and it is no different here. I have had a couple of people tell me they enjoy Inverroche with juice. Listen, Inverroche is amazing with anything you mix it with and there are many cocktails you can create. A signature serve of Amber G&T is a smooth, quenching drink, you can find the recipe here.
I remember the good old days (pre-lockdown i mean) when alcohol was still a bit affordable, You could get a bottle of Inverroche at a regular price of between R380 - R400 and if it was on special, you could get it for around R350. Now, we are looking at a regular price of R420, wherever you go. Most bottle stores are not having specials right for obvious reasons, so it would be interesting to see in the future how the price would go down. I don't mind paying it though, this is quality.
"Once we’ve distilled our gins, every bottle of Inverroche is filled, labelled and boxed by hand, creating opportunities and employment for the local community – as if to drive this point home, each bottle is individually numbered by hand before leaving the distillery." Remember I said earlier that there was a care about Inverroche that I could not explain? Well its because there is. I read somewhere that Lorna said it doesn't matter how big the brand gets, they will never mass produce their gin and will make sure that every bottle is hand crafted by her team to ensure that the standard of this drink is sustained. That is care I am talking about, making sure that with every bottle you are keeping the integrity of the gin, of the brand and of the process. I aspire to own a brand like this one day, Thank you Lorna.
One superficial thing I like about inverroche also, is the box it comes in 😍. It does not matter where you buy it, I have never seen it sold and not packaged in the box, such class. This makes a great gift, even when you are not buying as a gift, lol.
Let me digress into a bit of history, In the African culture; when lobola negotiations are in process, there is a tradition called ivula mlomo, where the Grooms' family takes out a little bit cash and a bottle or two (as a gift) for the uncles so that they start the negotiations. I want my boyfriend to note that ivula mlomo for my lobola negotions must be Inverroche, LMAO.. or else I am going to deny him, LMAO - jokes (not joking).
You can clearly see my love for this brand, its amazing. I used to think to myself that I should only buy it on special occasions, but actually I deserve this beauty even on normal days. We work hard to live this life and yes honey, I spoil myself with gin, Inverroche to specific. So in conclusion, shout to the team at Inverroche - Success of this brand is what you deserve.
To end of, I have a little story to share...
I remember one time, I think it was around early last year, I went to Checkers Liquor to get myself some gin because they had specials. Walked in, the gin aisle was decorated and felt so merry, I even started doing my happy dance lol.. I walked through looked at the specials and then I saw Inverroche, PRICED AT R250 A BOTTLE. I was like what in the gin gods is happening here????? I didnt hesitate, took the amber and the verdant, didn't look at anything else and when straight to counter. I got there, greeted the guy and said your prices say this is R250, I want both bottles. The dude behind the counter looked at me like what? girl you nuts! I said to him I'm serious the tag says R250. He then went on to ask his colleague to check and DAMN! I was right!!! Lol. It was actually supposed to be R350, lol but because the price you see is the price you pay, they had to sell it to me at the R250 price. So, I paid for my bottles and made my way to the exist, when I got to the door guys, that thingy started beeping!!! Yey! What is happening?! Lol, the security guard took my plastic and check the bottles, one of them had that security feature still on, lol. The devil is a liar guys, trying to make it look like I stole a bottle. The security man then took it off and soon as he gave me the plastic back, I was out of there like a lightning bolt. LMAO.. that was a good day. Its amazing that even the gin gods know that Inverroche is a fave. End of story.
Inverroche gets a 100 out of 10 for me. Let me know how you feel about it. I will add the other Inverroche bottles to the collection soon.
Thank you for joining me, will chat again with another addition to the collection. Cheers!
